A private rural estate offering two elegant residences, The House and The Barn. Reserve either home or the entire Estate for exclusive use, an effortless base for sophisticated group and wedding-group stays.

How many guests can stay?

Up to 20 guests across the Estate: The House sleeps 11 (5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms); The Barn sleeps 9 (4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms). Ideal for wedding parties, milestone gatherings and multi-generational retreats.

Can we book just one home?

Yes. Book The House, The Barn or both together.

What does "Broke, not Pokolbin" mean?

The Charles at Broke sits in Broke, the quieter side of Hunter Valley wine country, a short drive from Pokolbin's main tourist wine route. Broke gives you time to sit with winemakers rather than stand three deep at tasting counters. Time, not crowds.

Do you accept credit cards?

The Barn features a 10-person outdoor spa with vineyard views, perfect for sunset soaks. (No pool.)

Is the spa heated in winter?

Yes. The spa is heated year-round. Winter guests typically combine it with the indoor wood fireplace and the sandstone firepit outside, turning a cold weekend into a wine-and-steam affair.

Can the spa be used at night?

Yes. The spa is built for night use, with vineyard views by day and starlit firepit gatherings by night. Many guests describe it as the highlight of the stay.

Is The Barn suitable for couples?

Absolutely. The king room with ensuite and the queen rooms suit couples wanting a mid-week escape, with the ten-person spa, sandstone firepit and a wine-fridge-stocked kitchen at your disposal. Smaller groups can book The Barn knowing the bunk rooms are optional, not required.

Are there firepits?

What safety equipment is on site?

We provide a smoke alarm, carbon-monoxide alarm, fire extinguisher and first-aid kit. As a rural property, we also recommend closed footwear at night and a torch for late walks.

Do both dwellings have a security alarm?

The Barn lists an alarm system. The House does not list an alarm system. Please ensure doors and windows are locked when leaving.

Driving is simplest. Alternatively, train to Singleton then taxi/private transfer. We can suggest trusted local providers.

Eight cellar doors sit within seven minutes: Margan Wines & Restaurant (3 min), Nightingale (4 min), Krinklewood (5 min), Winmark (6 min), Mount Broke (7 min) and Greenway (7 min) among them. Times are from 60 Wollombi Street, Broke. Hunter Valley Gardens, Roche Estate and Bimbadgen are 15 to 20 mins. For coffee and supplies: Magooneys Café and the Broke General Store.

Spa Rules (must follow)

The spa is located at the Barn. For safety and cleanliness, please follow these essentials:

  • No make-up, tanning or sun cream in the spa.
  • No glass. Use the plastic spa cups provided.
  • Cover on, latched & locked when not in use.
  • Children supervised at ALL times in and around the spa.
  • Additional cleaning/repair fees apply if extra cleaning or repairs are required.
Payments & Security Bond

A pre-authorisation of AUD 1,500.00 is placed 1 day before arrival and voided 1 day after departure. Check-in details are released after successful pre-authorisation.

Rural Property Tips
